Public Toilet Roof Cleaned for Peak Park

We were recently contracted to a commercial roof cleaning job to clean roofs for the Peak National Park Authority.  The “Peak Park” owns and maintains a large number of buildings all across the national park.   Very often these buildings are cited in remote locations and only have aesthetic maintenance carried out every few years.

Such was the case with a number of toilet blocks. The toilets were situated under trees and the trees were constantly dropping organic material such as leaves, and seed cases down onto the roof.  Creating a perfect environment for moss and lichens to thrive.

We used our normal techniques of soft washing the tiles and replacing any broken or damaged roof tiles. we also had to be sure that there wasn’t any water ingress around the skylight windows.  the concrete tiles hadn’t been on the roof too long despite being thick with well-established moss.   We treated the roof with a special solution which prevents the mosses and lichens from taking hold for several years.

As you can see the roof looks much better and what’s more it’s now protected from the capillary action that mossy roofs almost always suffer from.  This was just one of many jobs where we carried our roof cleaning in Derbyshire.
